OnePlus has unveiled the Ace 6T in its home market, and the phone arrives with a mix of bold upgrades and some surprising firsts. This model is also expected to show up in India as the OnePlus 15R, but the bigger story is that OnePlus chose this device to introduce Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon chip.

A battery that outclasses the OnePlus 15

The feature getting the most attention is the 8,300mAh battery. It’s not common to see such a large battery in a phone built for high performance, but OnePlus has used a silicon-carbon design to make it possible. With 100W fast charging, the company claims the phone can reach 50 percent in about 23 minutes.

Interestingly, this capacity even surpasses the 7,300mAh battery inside the OnePlus 15, which makes the Ace 6T the more endurance-friendly option.

First phone to run the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

The Ace 6T is the first smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, Qualcomm’s newest chip built on a 3nm process. The Indian variant, expected to be called the OnePlus 15R, will bring this processor to global users.

OnePlus has also added a dedicated G2 chip for network optimisation, a custom display chip, and storage variants that go up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.1 storage.
According to the company, the phone scores around 3.56 million on AnTuTu, which puts it close to devices using the more premium Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

Display, camera setup and everyday performance

The Ace 6T comes with a 6.83-inch flat AMOLED screen. It has a 1.5K resolution, supports 165Hz adaptive refresh rates, and reaches a peak brightness of 3,600 nits. There’s also 10-bit colour, full DCI-P3 coverage, and a 3200Hz touch sampling rate, helped by a Lingxi touch chip aimed at smoother gaming controls. These display specs are expected to remain unchanged in the 15R.

On the back, the phone carries a 50MP Sony IMX906 sensor with OIS paired with an 8MP ultrawide lens. The front camera is 16MP. For India, OnePlus may swap the ultrawide camera for a 50MP unit, which would give the 15R a stronger secondary lens.

To keep the phone cool, OnePlus has used a Glacier cooling setup that combines a vapour chamber with several graphite layers.

Other features include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, multiple IP protection ratings (IP66/68/69/69K), and Android 16 with ColorOS 16. Colour options include Phantom Green, Electric Purple, and Flash Black. A Genshin Impact Kamisato Ayaka Edition also exists, but its global availability is still uncertain.

Price and India launch details

In China, the Ace 6T starts at 2,599 yuan (about ₹33,230) for the base 12GB/256GB variant. The top 16GB/1TB model is priced at 3,899 yuan (around ₹49,850).

The OnePlus 15R will go on sale in India on December 17, though the company has not revealed the pricing yet. Since the previous OnePlus 13R began at ₹42,999, the new model may fall in a similar bracket.

Final Thoughts

The OnePlus Ace 6T puts together a rare mix of battery capacity, new-generation performance hardware, and a gaming-ready display. If the 15R carries these strengths to the Indian market, it could easily become one of the most competitive performance phones in its price range.
